Technique Matters

2 min

The way you apply mascara is a make or break for your makeup, trust us. Technique is everything. And if we’re being honest, you’re probably doing it wrong.

Now, before you write this off, and say to yourself “I apply mascara correctly”…Just hear us out.

When applying mascara, you can’t expect to swipe up a couple times, or use the dreaded zig-zag technique on your lashes and expect Hollywood level luscious.

technique matters on lashes

Step 1 To Perfect Lashes

Now that we have your attention, step 1 is to tell yourself you’re beautiful with or without mascara.

After that, we’ll actually open up the mascara.

The key ‘ingredient’ here in understanding how to apply mascara correctly, is knowing the shape of your lashes. Most people have eyelashes that start smaller and thin near the inner corner of their eye and slowly they get longer and fan out. Basic anatomy, right?!

Now that we’ve covered that, let’s cover the Best Little Mascara Ever. We created our brush specifically to make this process easier. It is shaped like the human eye and accentuates everything that needs to be accentuated.

Step 2 To Correctly Apply

Once you have the mascara brush ready, swipe up on your eyelashes across the entire eye. This technique gives a good base. But remember that zig-zag we talked about…

We want none of that! All you’re asking for by applying mascara this way is clumps.

Now, you’re going to want to brush down from the top of your eyelashes. Without applying a coat on top AND bottom, your lashes won’t look as full.

This will give them an even darker color and coat the entire eyelash, rather than just applying mascara on the bottom.

The tricky part, is to not stop there. If you think about it logically, you just brushed down your eyelashes. We want our lashes lifted with lots of volume and curl, right?!

To get this look, we want to swipe up for a second time on the entire eye and fan out the edges at the end with the help of our specially made brush.

If you want to add more coats, that is totally up to your transgression. This technique is just to give you the basics that we should have been taught LONG ago.

For the bottom lashes, we do NOT want to turn the brush vertical. This is just a recipe for disaster.

And it’s honestly as simple as that. I mean look at the difference, too!
